WhatsApp Introduces Document Scanning Functionality: Here's How to Activate It on Your iPhone Devices
In a move to streamline document sharing and video calls, WhatsApp has rolled out two new features exclusively for iOS users.
Firstly, the messaging giant has introduced a document scanning feature within the application, eliminating the need for users to switch to third-party apps for scanning documents. This new feature is currently available with the latest iOS update and is expected to be rolled out to Android users in the following weeks.
To use the document scanning feature, simply open any chat, tap the attachment icon, select the Document option, and then tap Scan document to launch the camera interface within WhatsApp. Use your phone’s camera to capture the physical document, and the scanner will automatically detect, crop, and enhance the document for clarity.
Users can apply filters such as grayscale or black-and-white to improve the scan's appearance. For multi-page documents, continue scanning additional pages; WhatsApp will combine them into a single PDF file. Once done, the scanned document will be converted into a high-quality PDF stored securely on your device, ready to be sent directly to your contact or group within WhatsApp without leaving the app.
In addition to the document scanning feature, WhatsApp has also introduced AR effects, backgrounds, and filters for video calls. These can be accessed via the wand icon in the camera during a call. Users can crop and adjust the contrast and brightness of their videos for a more personalized experience. The feature is optimized for better quality and readability.
With these new features, WhatsApp continues to innovate, making it easier for users to digitize and share documents like forms, notes, contracts, or reports quickly and professionally right inside the app on iOS devices. Android users may have to wait a few more weeks to access these features.
