Zoho's Arattai Surges to 3.5M Daily Sign-ups, Backed by Indian PM and Ministers
Arattai, a homegrown messaging platform developed by Zoho, has witnessed a meteoric rise in popularity, with daily sign-ups surging from 3,000 to 3,50,000 in just three days. The sudden popularity can be attributed to endorsements from high-ranking Indian government officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Arattai has gained traction for its user-centric approach, prioritising minimal data collection and robust privacy protection. Unlike WhatsApp, it does not monetise personal data, a practice that has drawn criticism. The platform offers a suite of features similar to WhatsApp, including messaging, voice and video calls, media sharing, and channel broadcasting.
Arattai's compatibility extends beyond mobile, desktop, and web, supporting Android TV for multi-device functionality. This versatility has contributed to a 100-fold increase in peak traffic. The platform has received public endorsements from Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan.
Arattai's commitment to user privacy and indigenous development has resonated with Indian users, leading to a significant increase in downloads. With government endorsements and a feature-rich platform, Arattai is poised to challenge international competitors in the Indian messaging market.
